MEET THE FOUNDERS:

We are Black Girl Knit Club

Sicgmone Kludje & Vea Koranteng are the founders of Black Girl Knit Club (BGKC); A knitwear collective for Black women & girls which is the first of it’s kind in the UK. Sicgmone and Vea are both of Ghanaian decent, born and bred in East London and they are inspired by the art of uniting people into learning new skills. In addition to this they decided to combine elements of their passions for cultural heritage for like minded women to gather, inspire in a safe space, leading onto how Black Girl Knit Club was born.

In January 2019, Black Girl Knit Club was created after the lack of people who looked like them in the craft industry so Sicgmone & Vea decided to take action and provide this for the growing community.
