PEACOCK OF ADEME YARN
PEACOCK OF ADEME YARN
Peacock of Ademe Yarn
Each ball of Black Girl Knit Club’s unique yarn is made from upcycled West African wax print cloth, cut by hand in London to ensure that each ball is one of a kind. The East London craft collective’s Liberty-exclusive Peacock yarn features a traditional floral pattern called ‘Ademe’, named after a southern Togolese vegetable and yam vine. Rich colourways of deep browns, oranges and blues reflect the beautiful plumes of the peacock.
“‘Ademe’ is named after a vegetable from the south of Togo that is often prepared in different ways by mothers within a family. Similarly, this print is often passed on between generations of females within a family – representing strength, womanhood and togetherness.” – Black Girl Knit Club
